Brave Jack wasn't always known as that. He was once called `Little Jack' because he was such a small squirrel who had a great fear of heights when jumping from tree to tree.

One day during summer, gray squirrel falls into the raging river as he races against Little Jack high above in the cedar trees. With only seconds to act and a great distance to cover Brave Jack and Father Deer race after their friend before he falls over the edge of a giant waterfall. With breathtaking speed the two do their best to rescue their drowning friend in the nick of time.

As a result of his courage, Mother Nature awards Little Jack a set of fur wings that enable him to glide through the air. He is the first flying squirrel in existence! From then on, he is known throughout the forest of the Pacific Northwest as Brave Jack the flying squirrel!
